Tree of Life Icebox
This is an ice-box. My ice-box at work. I use it to store ice, and keep things cold. In a large research institue, things sometimes "grow legs" and started walking off on their own! This is especially so for ice-boxes, and especially when it's a convenient size like this one. It can stay a boring, white ice-box, like any other ice-box in research lab, but instead, I decided to make it exclusive, so exclusive and distinct, that it will be hard not to notice it! Most of my friends know I like to doodle here and there, so why not on a perfect empty white space of the ice-box! So there! My version of the "Tree of Life" as colourful as you can make your life to be!
Also included some native animals to my tree, just to add a little OZ touch! :p
My latest obsession is drawing litle birdies.....so what's next? Hmmm.....I guess my inspirations will come when I receive my next ice-box and have too many incubation times to kill in between experiments! :D String a String of Beads
I meant to make a beaded curtain but ended up stringing the beads to decorate this otherwise boring lampshade from IKEA. The soft lamp glow gives the multi-coloured beads a nice sparkle. :)

A Peachy Tale Over the Fence
Early Autumn: 3rd March 2010It's autumn! We've got peaches growing....from our neighbour's peach tree! And we've got a nice branch laden with big juicy peaches hanging right over....hehehe....whatever that grows on our side of the fence, is ours! Yeah!
Here's what happens when you don't pick your fruits! They fall to the ground and rot! So in a way, we are doing ourselves a favour.....ahem!
Look at all those big juicy peaches on our neighbour's side! They are ripe for picking! But nope....we can't touch them, cause they are not on our side!! :p

Mmmmm.....peachy goodness for the week! Yum! Freaky Autumn Hailstorm!
What a storm!!! Thought the end of the world was nigh! Raging winds up to 100kmh with hail and floods!! 50mm of rain so far, more to come tomorrow! People walking in knee deep waters, with dustbins, bottles, debris and big chunks of ice floating by....huge traffic jams!!! Chaos in Melbourne city!!!
6th March 2010After spending a leisurely afternoon at Ron Mueck exhibition, we stepped out of the NGV to streets littered with leaves and branches, as if a hurricane had passed through! Here I was with a huge brolly, and busting to go to the loo! But we were suddenly evacuated out of the NGV (as rain water was pouring into the building!), I had no choice but to seek alternatives!
Look at all the hailstones!
Some are as big as golf balls!
A mist slowly descending, dropping the temperature further....but the temperature somehow maintained at a comfortable 17 degrees.
Flooding on St. Kilda road, causing traffic mayhem!
Public transport came to a crawl....trams lining up, nose to tail.
By now, the traffic had come to a standstill. Since we were stuck in traffic, it's a good time to take some pictures of the destruction!
Saw a lot of dustbins being blown over today....
This pub is still open!
Hmm...can't do anything much about the mess, might as well play "Fetch" with the dog! :)

Looks a bit eerie with the mist, am expecting zombies to start roaming the streets any minute!

This cyclist just wants to get home! Lunge straight into cold knee-deep slush!!! Ew.....at least we were dry in the car! The lady in red is looking all dressed up, nice and dry...
Oops! Not anymore! Unfortunately she slipped and had a little fall! Now she has to go to the party with a wet bum! :S
Life goes on as usual for some...
We've been trapped in the car for almost an hour now.....I am dying for a hot chocolate!!!
So we got off the crazy traffic and had yummy pizzas in Blue Room cafe at South Melbourne! Of course, I had my hot chocolate too! ;)
After that we walked around to assess more of the storm's damage..."Autumn" came too early for theses Elm tree leaves; "Storm harvested" olives scattered the street; Ice covered alleys.
These fences looked like they have been splashed with green paint, but nope.....they are actually leaves that had been whipped, and lashed around by the storm, and torn into little pieces....actually, it looks quite nice...in a messy way! Hahaha...
Finally, the traffic's cleared up! The West Gate! Just have to cross this big puddle and we will be on our way home!!!
Poor Guppy coped the rage of the storm! Look at all the dents over her bonnet! Time to claim insurance!!! Oh well, Melbourne weather!We Live in a Quirky World!
Quirky and fun exhibtion from Ron Mueck at the NGV, not to be missed! This exhibition is so surreal....the sculptures are really life-like, down to the finest hair detail!
This one's called Dead Dad, I would have thought it's a real corpse...
.....with all the fine details.....
.....except that, he is no larger than a small kid!!! Thank goodness!
What'cha lookin' at!!??? Scowl....
And it's a girl!!! I confirmed it!
Frank staring up at the naked hairy giant sitting in a chair! Wahaha....and the giant is giving me "The Look"!
A BIG woman in bed!
Hmmm....they look quite sceptical.....she shouldn't be in bed still!
What the.....
Ahahaha....which is the chicken here? Chicken rice anyone?
Ever wondered why there are more people turning into vegetarian these days?
Nice way to relax...off the wall! hahaha.....love this exhibition, it's so quirky!!! :D

Pineapple Tigers for a Roaring Year!
Summer: Late January 2010Chinese New Year is just around the corner. This year i am getting into the festive mood of making some pineapple tarts! Pineapple tarts are a very popular CNY snack in Singapore, the little melts of buttery pastries are so yummy, though also packed full of calories! But it's CNY, like X'mas, it's the time to indulge and eat your worries away! :D
Here's my first batch of pineapple tarts getting the egg-wash treatment before going into the little mini-toaster oven behind me. 
Since it's the year of the tiger, I have decided to make some of the tarts into the shape of the tiger! Hehe....I've got some in the shape of a flower too, with a huge ball of pineapple jam in the middle! Pineapple overkill!!!

And they turned out.....looking more like mice than tigers!!! Fat little mice!!! Hahahaha....Maybe I was thinking of the mice in the lab when shaping these!!! I will have to re-design them....

The 2nd batch did not look like mice anymore but rather, they looked more like cats! Hahaha....oh well, I tried!

Mid-summer: 14th February 2010, 1st day in the year of the Tiger!Here they are! They did make it to the table! My pineapple "tiger" tartlets! Eventhough they looked a bit like fat Garfields, they still give everyone the giggles when they picked one up to eat! That's what CNY is all about, a time to be happy and a time to eat!!! Eat a tiger before it eats you! Hahaha....Gong Hey Fatt Choy everyone! Have a very prosperous and good tiger year ahead! Roar!!!!
